We're expecting new products from manufacturers like Motorola, HTC, and LG at CES, but a new rumor suggests that there'll be a 4G Android device from a company that you probably wouldn't expect. According to two ViewSonic employees speaking to the Wall Street Journal, their company will be unveiling a product described as a "phone-tablet computer hybrid" at CES. The device is said to have a 4-inch touchscreen, 4G capabilities for an unnamed network, and Google's Android OS. ViewSonic is also said to be bringing two new tablets to show off at the event.
It's kind of tough to figure out exactly what the WSJ means when they call the mystery ViewSonic device a "phone-tablet computer hybrid." After all, it's not like we haven't seen smartphones with 4-inch and larger displays before. The only explanation I can think of is that maybe it'll be running Honeycomb, the tablet-optimized version of Android. Thankfully, CES is only about a week away, so we don't have to speculate for long. While we wait, what do you all think ViewSonic's phone/tablet mash-up is?
