It seems that we can't go a day without hearing more tablet news and rumors, and today isn't going to be any different. This time we've got more rumors about the next iteration of Apple's iPad and just what features it will/will not have. This information comes from Reuters, who is reporting that they've heard from several different sources inside Apple component suppliers that production is ramping up, although only two would confirm that the ramp-up was for the iPad 2. One of those two said that the next iPad will sport both front and rear cameras (like the alleged cases from yesterday show), while the other tipster said that the device will be lighter, thinner, and have a higher-res display than what's found in the current model.
At this point, a front-facing camera for FaceTime seems to be a foregone conclusion, especially after the iPod Touch got one in its most recent update. The possibility of a rear camera is a little more difficult to pin down. I feel like a rear camera on a 10-inch tablet would be a little unwieldy to use, but who knows? It may turn out to be a nice feature to have after you get used to using it. A slimmer and lighter iPad 2 is probably a safe bet, too, and while I wouldn't be surprised to see it sport a higher resolution display, I don't think you should expect a Retina Display. I'm sure Apple would love to do one, but that would require a ton of pixels. As for a release date, most of us are expecting an April launch. After all, Apple does have a yearly refresh schedule to keep up with. So, everyone, which of the rumored iPad 2 features do you expect to actually make it into the final version of the device?
