HTC confirms that Gingerbread is coming to "some" phones

Now that we know that there aren't any minimum spec requirements for Android 2.3, many Android users are wondering if their particular handset will get called up to join the Gingerbread Club.  While we don't have a specific ETA for any handset (the Nexus One will be updated in a "few weeks"), HTC has come forward to let us know that they'll have "some" phones running the new OS.  There's no timeframe for when we can expect the updates to come, but hey, at least we know they're coming!  The full statement from HTC is as follows:

"We are excited about the OS update coming for Android, and while HTC will definitely have some phones running this OS, we do not have a specific timeframe for new phones or updates at this time. Please stay tuned for more details."

Most of us expected that HTC would be updating several of their phones to Gingerbread, but it's always nice to hear it straight from the manufacturer's mouth.  So now the question is, which phones will see the upgrade?  The myTouch 4G and G2 are obvious candidates.  The EVO was one of the first phones to get Android 2.2 and is still a flagship device on Sprint, so it wouldn't be surprising to see it get 2.3 some time in the near future.  The DROID Incredible and Desire are good bets for the update, as well.  I just hope that we don't have to suffer through endless rumors of the DROID Incredible's upgrade date like we did while waiting for Froyo to arrive for the device.  After the first one or two, that started to get painful.
