Dell Venue slides through the FCC, don't call it the Thunder

We heard recently that Dell was creating a handset resembling the Windows Phone 7-powered Venue Pro but with Android, and today that device may have just made its presence known.  Something called the Dell Venue just passed through the FCC and, from the look of things, it's basically a keyboardless Venue Pro with Android (just like the Dell Thunder that leaked in August).  Don't fret too much about the missing QWERTY, though, because the very same 4.1-inch AMOLED display found on the Venue Pro is also present on the Venue.  We still don't have a clue when the Venue will arrive or how much it'll cost, but considering that it's gone through the FCC, an announcement can't be too far off.

Dell's previous Android efforts, the Streak and the Aero, weren't exactly smash hits, so it'll be interesting to see how the Venue fares.  The 4.1-inch screen should definitely help its odds, but what's more important is what version of Android it'll be running when it arrives on store shelves.  An Android phone with a 4.1-inch AMOLED display sounds pretty enticing, so let's all cross our fingers (and our toes, while we're at it) hope that the Venue has a nice bowl of Froyo in tow when it launches.
