Dell Streak getting a heaping helping of Froyo in the coming weeks

Ever since the Dell Streak was launched back in August, one of the biggest complaints that people had with the device was the fact that it was running Android 1.6.  Dell said that an update to Froyo would be coming, but never really promised much except that it would arrive before the end of 2010.  Today, a Dell exec stated that the 2.2 upgrade for the Streak will be arriving in a matter of "weeks," and he also detailed a new feature that will be built into the OS.  Called "Stage," the new user interface will make spotting apps, media, books, etc. easier for the user.  A new Dell smartphone running Android 2.2 was mentioned.  The phone is said to sport a 4.1-inch display and be similar to the Windows Phone 7-powered Venue Pro, except that it will lack a physical keyboard.

It's tough to tell exactly how well Dell's Streak sold here in the U.S., especially since AT&T never really embraced it.  Still, Android tablets are going to be huge in the near future, so it's probably good that Dell is giving their streak a fighting chance against competing products like the Samsung Galaxy Tab.  Has this news got any of you considering picking up a Streak?  What do those of you that already own Dell's tablet think of the device?
