LG Optimus T bringing entry-level Android to T-Mobile this holiday season

T-Mobile, just like the other three big carriers, took some time today to announce an Android addition to their network.  The LG Optimus T, which we saw in a leaked T-Mobile document once before, will be an entry-level handset aimed at first-time smartphone buyers.  Specs for the Optimus T are a little hard to come by, but we do know that it will include a 3.2 megapixel camera with video capture, a pre-installed 2 GB micro SD card, and will ship with Android 2.2 pre-installed (the screen is rumored to be 3.2 inches, but nothing has been confirmed just yet).  Available in either burgundy or titanium color schemes, the Optimus T will be available this holiday season for an "affordable" price.

Seemingly the polar opposite of the G2, T-Mobile's new Optimus T follows the theme of the majority of Android devices announced in the past couple of days: entry-level.  Android could be overwhelming for some consumers at first glance, especially the devices with huge touchscreens and sliding keyboards, so low-end devices like the Optimus T will help ease users into the world of smartphones and set them up for high-end handsets later on.  Do you think that customers new to the smartphone scene will be interested in the Optimus T, or will they pass it up for a different device?
