T-Mobile myTouch official: Snapdragon, HSPA Plus, Android 2.2

We've seen T-Mobile's new myTouch leak several times in the past, but today the carrier has come forward and officially announced the new handset.  Launching in time for the holidays, the HSPA+-capable myTouch will be available in white, black, plum, or red, and will feature Android 2.2 running on a 3.8-inch, WVGA touchscreen.  Under the hood, the myTouch will be sporting a 1 GHz MSM8255 Snapdragon processor, a 5 megapixel camera capable of shooting 720p HD video, a front-facing camera for Qik video chat using T-Mobile's network or WiFi, and a pre-installed 8 GB microSD card.  In addition, the myTouch will include a Genius Button powered by Dragon Dictation, allowing users to make calls, send texts or emails, and access the Internet using only their voice.  On the software side of things, Swype will come preloaded along with HD games like Rock Band, Asphalt 5, and Monopoly.  You can check out the full press release below.

In addition to announcing the new myTouch, T-Mobile is also flipping the HSPA+ switch in several new cities across the country.  Included in the latest roll out is Huntsville, Ala.; Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz.; Denver, Colo.; San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland and Sacramento, Calif.; West Palm Beach, Fla.; Biloxi, and Gulfport, Miss.; Omaha, Neb.; Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Knoxville, Tenn.; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Norfolk, Va.

Along with the G2, T-Mobile's new myTouch has been catapulting to the front of the Android race thanks to the fact that it's running Android 2.2 out of the box, is able to take advantage of T-Mobile's HSPA+ network, and has a shiny new 1 GHz Snapdragon chip.  The fact that the myTouch is able to make video calls over both WiFi and T-Mo's network is another huge selling point.  All we need now is the all-important pricing information.  So T-Mobile now offers two high-end, HSPA+-ready Android handsets in the G2 and the myTouch.  Who ya got?
