Windows Phone 7 launching on Oct. 11, AT&T sales begin week of Nov. 8

It's been rumored for some time now that Windows Phone 7 would be launched in October, specifically the 11th, with a U.S. debut set for November.  Today that news seems all but confirmed as "people familiar with launch plans" have told the Wall Street Journal that Microsoft will be unveiling WP7 in New York on October 11th, which just so happens to be the same day that Microsoft has an event scheduled, with AT&T planning to begin selling the devices the week of November 8th.  The WSJ's sources elaborated a little further on AT&T's launch plans, saying that the carrier will initially offer three WP7 handsets: one each from LG, Samsung, and HTC.

We've pretty much known Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 launch plans ever since the company's COO mentioned the news back at the beginning of August, but any news that comes along to help confirm our assumptions is always welcome.  Now that we know just when WP7 will be hitting both here and in Europe, I'd say it's time that we begin speculating on which leaked handsets will show up on AT&T first.  Perhaps a 1-2-3 combo of the Samsung Cetus, LG E900/Optimus 7, and HTC T8788?
