Sanyo Innuendo works its way into PhoneDog's "Best Messaging Phones" rankings

There's a new messaging phone in town and it has come with a vengeance! The Sanyo Innuendo was a surprise hit at PhoneDog and we feel it deserves a spot on our "Best Messaging Phones" list for Sprint.

The Innendo has a design that we've seen on a couple of phones in the past, but Sanyo has managed to put all the pieces togther just right, and this time it rocks. The front panel is a simple touch-sensitive display that can be used to dial numbers and access basic menu functions. But the real fun comes when you flip open the phone. The internal 2.8-inch color LCD screan is bright and beautiful and the full QWERTY keyboard is great to type on. Not only that, but you're given a decent 3.2 megapixel camera to capture pictures and video.

All in all, the Innuendo is a great addition to Sprint's messaging phone line-up. It wasn't quite enough to overtake the LG Rumor Touch at number one, but it's a solid number two for those who need additional options.

What do you think about the Innuendo? Is it a number two winner for Sprint? Let us know in the comments!

1. LG Rumor Touch

Pros

  • Well-designed, spacious physical keyboard
  • Notifications bar for messaging that is somewhat similar to what you would see on an Android device
  • The touchscreen and 3.5 mm headphone jack are features that the previous Rumors lacked
  • Excellent build quality

Cons

  • For a phone of this caliber, you would expect something better than a 2 MP camera with no flash
  • Though the user interface is interesting and fun, it may take some getting used to. (You may want to try it before you buy it to see if you like it or if it's too different for you.)

Summary

The Rumor line of phones have always been solid contenders in the messaging phone market. The Rumor Touch adds a few additional features and has very few downsides. Perfect for the "serious texter."
