Sprint, known for their $100 Simply Everything unlimited plan, may be getting some stiff competition in the near future. Verizon is currently testing a new plan in San Diego and Los Angeles, California are testing Verizon's National Talk and Text plan, offering unlimited voice and text, for only $70 rather than the usual $90 that the plan costs. Paired with Big Red's $30 per month smartphone data plan, that gives you unlimited voice, text, and data for only $100 per month, matching what Sprint is offering. It's unclear when or if Verizon will roll out the reduced plan to the rest of the nation, but we can all hope.
This is definitely a great, and surprising, move by Verizon. Considering that they have the most subscribers of all four of the national carriers, I would have never guessed that Verizon would be knocking $20 off of their unlimited voice and text plan. It's not like they need to catch up to a competitor and gain a bunch of subscribers quickly. If they do decide to roll out the reduced plan nationwide, though, I have a feeling that their subscriber base will end up growing quite a bit.
