Samsung Galaxy S device coming to U.S. Cellular in the fall

While we expected all four of the big carriers to get a Samsung Galaxy S family device, this news comes as a bit of a surprise.  Samsung has announced that U.S. Cellular will be getting a "Galaxy S smartphone" available this fall (the generic Galaxy S is pictured above).  Like the other Galaxy S phones, U.S. Cellular's version will come with a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor, 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 5 megapixel camera with 720p video recording, and Android 2.1 beneath a Samsung-made skin.  There's no official photo, name, or price announced, but we'll be sure to keep you updated.

Little is known about U.S. Cellular's Galaxy S device besides the generic specs, but if I had to guess, they will be getting something similar to the Verizon Fascinate.  With the news that the carrier will be getting a Galaxy S phone, HTC Desire, Samsung Acclaim, and BlackBerry Bold 9650, as well as a couple of other Android and BlackBerry devices, U.S. Cellular is definitely gaining attention as an alternative to the big four carriers if you want a high-end smartphone.  Would any of you switch to U.S. Cellular for one of these popular handsets?
