It's not clear where the disconnect is or whose information is more accurate, but according to technology research company, Gartner, Nokia has managed to sell less than 100,000 N900s since its release five months ago. According to Reuters, a Nokia spokesperson wouldn't comment on specific numbers, but instead suggested that the company was pleased with sales of the device. Alberto Torres, Executive Vice President of Solutions for Nokia took it one step further by saying that "Sales have substantially exceeded expectations." According to Engadget, the N900 wasn't intended as a "mass-market device," but instead was geared toward strengthening its development community for Maemo - a Linux-based platform developed by Nokia. So maybe Nokia didn't really care about selling a ton of phones? In any case, Engadget seems to have heard from Nokia that the Gartner numbers were wrong and in fact more than 100,000 N900's were sold in the first five weeks, let alone the first five months.
