T-Mobile rate plans change, upgrade fee reinstated

It's nice to see the occasional plan revamp!  As previously predicted, T-Mobile's rate plans changed today; though they're not as revamped as initially thought, they bring some new options to the table that benefit the customer.  The changes are as follows:

Individual Plans

  • Unlimited mobile to mobile on all single line plans of $49.99 or higher, no additional cost.

Family Plans

  • New promotional myFaves plan for $89.99 that includes 1800 minutes, unlimited nights and weekends, unlimited mobile to mobile and my Faves.
  • Adding 500 additional minutes to the $99.99 and $129.99 FamilyTime Plans at no extra cost.
  • For the $119.99 and $149.99 myFaves for families plans, we are adding 500 minutes, and we are lowering their prices by $10.

Family Allowances Change

  • The $2.99/month promotional charge for Family Allowances has ended; new customers will now be charged $4.99/month for the feature.

On the heels of welcome changes on the plan front, it's disappointing to see that magenta is bringing back the $18 upgrade fee, effective April 15th.  The official company statement is as follows:

?Beginning April 15, the $18 handset upgrade fee will be reinstated for all handset upgrades completed through Retail, Customer Service, RPS, Business, and the Web.?

Not that we're not used to seeing this fee with the other national carriers, but it's disappointing to see T-Mobile joining the ranks.
