CTIA preview: VZW Samsung Glyde outed in pictures

We've been following the progress of Samsung's F700 superphone ever since a production dummy hit Sammy's booth back at CES '07 more than one year ago.  The GSM F700 has been available overseas in unlocked and Vodafone-branded variants for awhile now, but has not yet made it to the States.  That all may well change sometime around March 28th, just in time for CTIA Wireless in Vegas the following week.

Engadget Mobile's got some new pics of the Verizon Wireless "Glyde", aka the Samsung U940, which is the American CDMA spinoff of the F700.  While the unfortunately named Glyde retains the F700's big beauty of a touchscreen display, slide-out QWERTY thumboard, and HTML Web browser, the camera has been dumbed down to a 2MP version, and the UI seems to be some sort of a Croix-Verizon offspring.

EMob commenters are speculating $250 after rebate when Glyde launches on VZW sometime between March 25 and late April.  I'm hearing March 28th and that same price point.  But really, none of us have anything more to base our reports on beyond dirty, dirty rumors.  I'll betcha I get to play with the thing in Vegas, though, no matter the launch date.  And when I do, I'll bring you the video.

Meantime, check out the Vodafone F700 live in glorious video from my hands-on with it back in October of last year.
