Five reasons why you should not buy Apple’s AirPods:

Reason #1: Price

The AirPods are $159, which is not cheap. It’s pretty fair for wireless earbuds, however, these are just wireless ear pods. The wired ear pods can be purchased for $129 from Apple or roughly $9 on eBay.

Is the price increase worth it? That’s going to be up to you but for the average consumer, probably not.

Reason #2: Comfort

Apple makes no effort to make these things comfortable. They’re constructed with plastic and just sit in your ears. There are no ear tips, ear fins or really anything to help these pods fit more securely in your ear canals. Apple went with the one size fits all approach here. The company says they will fit most people’s ears but if they don’t fit yours or don’t fit yours very well, you probably shouldn’t buy them. I would maybe recommend testing them out at the Apple Store before you purchase them.

Reason #3: Style

In my opinion, the packaging and AirPods themselves actually look pretty sleek. They have some nice curves to them and the included case is fairly simple and inconspicuous. But when they are in your ears, they don’t look that great. It’s going to be a matter of personal preference but it’s the stem that really bothers me. They kind of stick out a bit and look like cheap, plastic earrings.

Reason #4: Easy to Lose

They can get lost pretty easily. As with any small item, the AirPods are going to be pretty easy to lose; thanks to their size. If one falls out of your ear while running, you might not ever see it again or maybe you will, just not anytime soon. You might have to go look into some bushes for it. Since they are so small, they do tend to fall towards the bottom of my pockets and my bags, if they’re not in their case that is. What’s more is that if you do lose one, you will need to pay about $69 to replace them.

Reason #5: Sound Quality

Let me be frank: the sound quality isn’t bad. The highs and mids are certainly lacking but the bass is fairly punchy and responsive. The thing is, there’s really no difference in sound quality between this model (that costs over $100 more) and the wired model. It all comes down to the price guys. You’re paying $159 for Apple to take the original AirPods and cut off the wires.

Now the point of this video is not to bash the AirPods. It’s to shed some light to some of the drawbacks of this product to ultimately help you make a more informed buying decision. We recommend you watch our video highlighting several reasons why you should buy the AirPods.
