The month of February is coming to an end, meaning we get to reflect on ten of our favorite apps to hit the Play Store. Without further ado, let’s get started:
Die With Me
First we have what I consider to be a hilarious app called Die With Me. When your phone’s battery is below 5%, the app will pair you up with a stranger whose phone is also dying so you can chat away for the final minutes of battery life you both have. Unfortunately, the chatroom will consist of others in a similar situation and there can be some language barriers but overall this is a super fun app.
Caster
Caster is an app that will bring together media from a number of sites all in one media player so that you can stream content to a Chromecast device. It will be able to retrieve local media as well as content from YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive. If you consume a lot of media especially from these sites and you like to cast that media to a Chromecast device, you should definitely check out this app.
Spiky Trees
Spiky Trees is a beautifully simple game where you play as a cube who has to traverse down a spiky tree. The goal is to travel as far as you can without hitting a spike. And as you can see, it gets pretty difficult. I love the animations and the fluidity of this app. It’s super smooth, super addicting.
Feedster
Feedster is kind of similar to Caster. It brings all of your favorite news feeds from your social network, RSS feeds and sites in one convenient place that you can scroll through. All the necessary features to interact with your posts like writing comments, reading posts, and sharing are still available. So far, you can connect Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Vk, Reddit, Facebook, and Feedly. But I’m sure more sources will be added over time. The idea is to save you time from opening each app separately and scrolling through content. Here you have one convenient all-in-one hub.
Lens Distortions
Lens Distortions lets you simulate lens distortions in your photos, just like the name implies. The effects are of high quality and they look great when applied to your photos. You get five filters for free but you can pay $1/month to unlock the entire suite.
Up a Cave
Up a Cave is similar to Spiky Trees in that you play as a cube. But instead of dodging spiky trees, you have to navigate through challenging caves, which are home to a variety of traps and enemies. The more diamonds and golds you collect, the higher your stats or score will be.
Calendar Counter
Calendar Counter is a neat app for those of you who use the Google Calendar app frequently. The app checks for keywords in your events, names, descriptions, and locations and automatically creates tags from the most popular words you use so you can easily jump to those events. In addition to the automatically generated tags, you can create your own custom tags for the events that you have. The app will also show you how much time you spent on different activities.
Just Slide
Just Slide is a casual game with simple controls but beautiful animations and challenging gameplay. You can’t run, flip, or jump. All you can do is slide to advance your little blobby creatures to their end goal. It’s pretty tough though so do keep that in mind if you get frustrated easily. There’s a boss mode and an endless mode for endless fun.
Cake Browser
Cake Browser is a new browser for Android that’s built around how we search the web. Instead of having to go back to your initial Google Search in order to check out the next result page, you can instantly move through them by swiping left and right. You can also reorder your preferred results, switch to images, videos, and news with a simple tap on a pop-up menu. What’s more is you can even save pages for offline viewing, which is pretty neat if you decide to go off the grid for a minute or two. If you like what you see, you should check out the Cake Browser.
Nwsty
Speaking of news, the last app we have for you today is called Nwsty. The app is designed for those of you who rarely read the news and its aim is to make it extremely easy for such users to get to know what’s happening in the world quickly. The app uses artificial intelligence to bring you headlines and news summaries of between 6 and 10 of the most important current news that it believes you should know about. The stories cover both US and global news including current events, international news, politics, world events, entertainment, sports, science, and more. If you’re not an absolute news junkie but you want to know about the big news stories, you should check out Nwsty.
