Panasonic Lumix CM1 Hands On

The Panasonic Lumix CM1 is one interesting product. It's a 20.1-megapixel Panasonic Lumix camera with a 1-inch sensor and Venus Processing Engine, but it's also a 4.7-inch Android smartphone running a Snapdragon 801 chip, 2GB of RAM and Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

Also, it's built like a tank and looks fantastic!

At the CES 2015, new devices were introduced to the public. One of the devices unveiled is the Panasonic Lumix CM1, which combines the functions of a smartphone and a powerful camera.

The back of the device looks like it is a Lumix LX7 camera. Complete with its leather body and camera lens, the device feels like it is a camera from this side. With its Lumix logo, the device can easily be mistaken for a camera. Available with Leica branded camera lens, the device has an aperture of 2.8 and a focus ring that can be used to change the aperture with.

On the other side of the device is where it resembles an Android phone. Equipped with a 4.7” full HD display, the phone runs on a powerful Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS with Snapdragon 801 processor. With specs like this, the Lumix CM1 can easily be branded as a flagship device. Especially since it comes with an awesome 20.1 MP camera, the phone is truly one to look out for. Apart from its awesome camera, the device is built with a fully Panasonic Venus image processor chip that processes the images.

Just like a camera, the settings of the Lumix CM1’s camera can be changed through the touch screen display: Aperture, ISO, and White Balance. The shutter button on top can be used to adjust focus and for capturing photos. The result of these settings available on the CM1 is a set of fantastic images with the availability to record videos.

The Lumix CM1 comes with a built-in flash memory of 16 GB with 2 GB of RAM. Through its microSD card slot, the memory can be expanded by up to 128 GB. The phone has a 2600 mAh battery.

When the Panasonic Lumix CM1 will be launched, it will be available with full LTE support. As of this writing, there has been no carrier announcements made. But it will be sold at $1000 off contract.
