Moto G (3rd Gen) Unboxing and Impressions!

This is the new Moto G. So let’s unbox it!

Every single Moto G has done incredibly well. With the new 3rd Gen Moto G, Motorola’s capitalizing on one of the most affordable smartphones by making it even better. Let’s go ahead and crack open into the box and the first thing you see is the brand new, spanking new Moto G (3rd Gen). It hasn’t grown at all from the last generation. It’s still housing the same 5-inch display while there are some aesthetic changes that we'll talk about in a bit. Underneath, you’ll find a charger and some documentation.

Now we can go back to the brand new Moto G. As I mentioned, the overall size and form factor hasn’t changed from the 2nd Gen. It still houses a 5-inch 720p IPS panel. The overall aesthetics of the Moto G looks a little more upscale. Now this fake little sides look good but again they are all made out of plastic. But keep in mind that this is a very affordable smartphone.

Another good keep from the last generation Moto G are the two front-facing speakers which do return on the 3rd Gen. what is new is the hardware on the inside. This includes the new Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor, the Adreno 306 GPU and 1 or 2GB of RAM depending on your storage option. The new Moto G can comes as an 8GB or 16GB model but do not worry because the microSD card slot is back and probably here to stay forever. A new feature for this Moto G is an IPX7 rating, which means the device is water-resistant in 1m of water for up to 30 minutes. Now that’s actually a pretty huge deal for a phone that costs as little as this one.

The last upgrade that I want to mention is the new camera. It’s been upgraded to the same camera found on the Google Nexus 6. That’s right—it’s a 13MP camera but unfortunately it doesn’t carry over things like 4K UHD video recording. But it can still do 1080p at 30fps. Software-wise, we are running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with a slight Motorola customization. Things like Moto Actions, Moto Display and Moto Assist will be found on the brand new Moto G which I think are still very helpful. One thing I’d like to mention is the new Moto G comes with 4G LTE in this base model. That means no more waiting for a more expensive 4G LTE phone. The base model has 4G LTE right out of the box for all GSM networks.

The Moto G may not be a flagship but it’s definitely an important device and one that a lot of you guys are probably really going to be interested in.
