KP 500: LG announces 'affordable' touchscreen phone

Remember last week when Demetra from LG said on the podcast that her company had all kinds of interesting phones in the works for later this year?  Well, maybe the KP500 was one of them.

LG announced a new "attractively priced" full touchscreen handset, the KP500, which features a 3" wide touchscreen, 3MP camera, and choice of three color schemes. The KP500 will also pack an internal motion sensor that will be used for gaming (amongst other things), and an on-screen virtual QWERTY board, according to LG.  While the KP500 won't pack all of the high-end functionality of some other recently announced LG handsets, a 3" touchscreen and 3MP camera ain't too bad, if you ask me.

The KP500 will be available in Europe next month "and then on to the rest of the world."  Maybe we'll see it, along with the Xenon, headed to a US carrier before year's end?
