Google Nexus 4 Challenge: Day 1

30 days with the Google Nexus 4.  I've been wanting to do this for a while, and though I'm currently wrapping up the challenge with the HTC One X+, I think it's the perfect time to start a challenge for two reasons: (1) those that know me know that I hate carrying two phones around on a regular basis, and (2) I want to do some joint testing with the Straight Talk SIM card that I'm currently testing in the Nexus 4.  Prepaid is huge, and I'm committed to doing more coverage on Straight Talk, Solavei, Tracfone, T-Mobile prepaid, and the other alternatives out there.

As a recap, the specifications of the Google Nexus 4 out of the box:

  • 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU
  • 4.7-inch IPS HD display
  • 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD recording
  • HSPA+ connectivity (42 Mbps on T-Mobile, 21 Mbps on AT&T)
  • 2,100 mAh battery
  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean

I'm going to put the Nexus 4 to the test and see if Straight Talk is up to par, but of equal importance, I'm going to put stock Android through its paces and really get a feel of what's good and what's not so good about it.  I know I'll miss the value-added features that come with TouchWiz, Sense, and Motorola's UI, but hopefully the fluidity of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean will negate it to an extent.

Questions or thoughts?  I'd love to hear from you!  Tweet me @PhoneDog_Aaron with what you want to see covered in this challenge.  Let the fun begin!
