Facebook today announced that it’s making some changes to its News Feed, and it’s letting you do the tweaking.
Facebook is rolling out new News Feed Preferences that’ll let you fine tune your feed to see exactly what you want and in the order that you want it. The new controls include four options: Prioritize, unfollow, reconnect, and discover.
When it comes to prioritization, you can select which friends and Pages you want to see at the top of you News Feed. This will place new posts from those people and Pages at the top of your feed, complete with a star to make sure you can see them and so that you know why they’re there.
You also have the option of unfollowing people and Pages to hide their posts without unfriending or unliking them completely. You can also see a list of everyone you’ve unfollowed and when you unfollowed them, and Facebook will let you easily re-follow them if you want.
Finally, a new discover tool will help you to find new Pages that you might like. These could be publishers, artists, businesses, or whatever else, and Facebook will suggest these Pages based on the ones that you’ve previously liked.
Facebook’s new News Feed Preferences is rolling out to iOS today and will hit Android and desktop users in “the coming weeks.”
These News Feed Preferences tools could be useful in helping to make sure you catch every post from a particular friend or Page, or totally missing every post from someone else without unfriending them and potentially hurting their feelings.
