The last time we heard about LG's entrant into the tablet arena, a company official said that they were waiting for a version of Android better suited for tablets rather than using Froyo. Apparently that version is Honeycomb, as a senior official at LG today referred to it as the "tablet PC-version" of Android. The official even took it a step further, saying that the 8.9-inch LG Pad will sport a dual-core Tegra 2 chip and will ship in the first quarter of 2011. LG has since chimed in on the matter, saying that they have nothing official to say on a tablet. To further cover their tracks, they removed a tweet about the story.
Before today, not much was known about LG's tablet except that it was, well, a tablet. If the dual-core Tegra 2 processor ends up making it into the device, though, the LG Pad could end up being one of the more powerful tablets on the market. There's going to be quite a few tablets from manufacturers like HTC, Motorola, and LG coming out in early 2011; which looks best to you so far?
