Back at MWC, Sagem announced a new device headed towards the UK market, the Puma Phone. Last week the device popped up in FCC's system, and appears to have gained the green light.
This device is pretty neat and is coming to the market with a different approach to things. The press release declared the phone a smartphone, but appears to be more along the lines of a multi-media feature phone that packs a heavy spec sheet. The phone will come with its own operating system and user interface designed by Puma. Being the sports clothing company that they are, the Puma Phone will come with a pedometer, walk/run/bike applications, a stopwatch, and a few other sports-related apps, but it doesn't stop there. It also comes with a “turntable” music app, and a neat “carpet” style options menu where you pull up the bottom of the screen to reveal different settings for each application.
The one thing that truly sets this device apart though, is the solar cell on the back of the phone. This isn't meant to replace an AC wall charger, but is helpful to get a little more juice while out in the sun and can get you in touch with your eco-friendly self.
