When the LG V40 ThinQ was first released in October, it was intended to rival Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 model. Unfortunately, it was unable to compare to the latter since it had a smaller battery and less powerful triple-rear camera configuration. Another factor that led to the LG V40 ThinQ’s decline is the fact that it took LG a long time to get the official Android 9.0 Pie update. Now, that looks like it’s about to change.

After initially rolling out an Android Pie update for Verizon, AT&T, and U.S. Cellular, unlocked versions of the LG V40 ThinQ now get their share of the action.

Earlier today, the V40520A_03 firmware build has been released along with the May security patch. The new firmware update has a size of 3.92GB.

Once updated to Android 9 Pie, users can enjoy all the standard Pie features on the LG V40 ThinQ-- gesture navigation and dual app support. The update also gives some refinements to the camera app.
