Watch for under handed practices

Posted on: April 3rd, 2009 by Jamie Poniatowski

If you start using texting too much they change your unlimited text plan to .15 per text and it doesn't appear on your account on line as changed. They will then say you had to renew on your "anniversary" date and since you didn't you pay, pay, pay. I even did a screen shot of my account on line and they still would not refund $200 they charged to my credit card in a matter of 13 days. Also didn't matter that I was a long standing customer. They say 24/7 customer service which is also misleading, that's if you want to access info on line or through automated voice system. If you want to talk to a human they are on California time so forget about it.

Superior customer service/tech support

Posted on: October 19th, 2008 by Kooki Crisp Cereal

The good: Customer service, convience, pricingThe bad: Devices could be betterSummary: Virgin mobile's customer service is the best of the best, kreme de la kreme....they offer great phone packages at reasonable pricing, and when and if you have issues with your phone or the service they go above and beyond to help. Changing plans from month to month is a great way to control spending and the online site allows you to do so much...The only thing that is slightly disappointing is the devices. They are ok, but with 3G in big swing, VM is definately going to have to step they're game up...Very excited about the HELIO/VM merger, so maybe all my cell phone dreams can come true. OZ2 on VM service, take that sideKICK!!!

The good: Great service , great customer serviceThe bad: The cheapest phones are not the top of the line.Summary: Great service great customer service, I had them for 2 years, 2 cell phones. Best Prepaid Service

Posted on: August 14th, 2008 by B D

The good: Signal coverage, great plans, good customer serviceThe bad: noneSummary: I have always liked virgin mobile, even though I have been with several other carriers a have always been with vm, their coverage is better than the website shows I live in a no service area or at least that is what the website shows but I can usually pull 1 bar of service and hardly ever drop a call, I really like the customer service out of 10 calls to customer service i may have got one bad one...they have always resolved my problems and if you want to go directly to a live person just mumble in the phone while the operator is talkin after a bout 3 times she will send you to a actual person, I ported my number from a different carrier and was very impressed on how fast it ported, the person doing the port said that it could take 3 to 5 days to port but the number was fully ported in 3 hours, the plans are very good for a prepaid service, it maybe cheaper with a actual contract carrier, but i cant stand being in a contract for 2 years, but i have been with virgin mobile for years and i have been very satisfied...i highly recommend them

Very Poor Customer Service

Posted on: July 18th, 2008 by Jim Sprada

The good: Billing is done promptlyThe bad: Access to customer service is a muddled call-and-wait automated system geared more toward sales than serviceSummary: Customer service is unwilling to do anything but sell more minutes, bigger plans and Xtra's rather than getting to the root of a problem.

At Your Service?

Posted on: February 2nd, 2008 by Will Richardson

The good: Got it for an extra phone. Good signal most everywhere, reasonable price, (although I haven't checked the competition lately.) Great for finding your regular phone when you misplace it!The bad: Customer service ranges from great to an absolute nightmare. This is the nightmare. Summary: One of the advantages of Virgin Mobile (or any prepaid) is that you can change the area code (I've been working on it for a week now,) if you're going to be in a particular area for a time. Then everybody still locked to landlines won't have to call you long distance. It's great to have one stashed in your console too, when you can't seem to remember what your regular cell phone is under. But a word of warning. Don't try and actually do it. (Change the area code, that is.) It can take forever, and when you do, at least in Nashville, where they seem to be out of numbers, it seems that your balance is reduced to $0.00, no matter what it was in the first place. They finally got me a new Nashville number, but when they did, it made my balance of $77.10 disappear into thin air! Now "Simone" wants me to top up. I'll do that when pigs fly and Mt. Rushmore sings "God Bless The USA in four-part harmony!" Or I get my $77.10 back...maybe.

Worst customer service I could ever imagine

Posted on: February 1st, 2008 by sharon tomlin

The good: noneThe bad: no real customer service.Summary: I'd give them zero stars if I could.Customer service is the worst I have ever encountered just shockingly bad. If you ever get to speak to a real person they are rude, unhelpful and 80% of the time your call will be dropped if they put you on hold.I wish I had read these reviews first because when I changed my plan online I had no idea I would loose my minutes. I called the customer service number and after 15 minutes of listening to their rather condescending robot automated service managed to get through to a real person. Its not easy because there is a tree of questions that you have to answer correctly before 'Simone' will even consider letting you speak to a real person and very limited options. When I finally got through to a real person she told me she could change it back but I would not be able to use my phone for 72 hours (?), fine just switch it back. She put me on hold and then the call was dropped. Another infuriating 30 minutes trying to find a real person to talk to I got through to someone, I made sure he did not put me on hold so I would not get dropped, he told me he could refund what I had paid but had no way of getting my minutes back. I asked then if I could cancel my service and get my $75 balance returned to me and he said no. I asked to speak to his supervisor. The supervisor was the coldest and most snide person that I actually had to question that he was a real customer service rep. He confirmed that if I cancelled my service I would loose my balance and of course I could not get my minutes back. As soon as Ive used up my balance I will get rid of Virgin.I had a problem before where the web site told me my transaction had not gone through and to call a customer representative. I ended up being charged 3 times for the transaction that supposedly had 'not gone through'. When I called and got through to a person my call was dropped twice and then I got through to a lady in Sri Lanka who knew nothing about what was going on and was not able to understand me. It took me 3 hours over 3 days to resolve this issue. I really wish I had given up Virgin then.

Virgin Mobile?

Posted on: January 21st, 2008 by Steven Gabrielson

The good: Never had a drop call or bad signal. always had my favorite Country ringtones without looking for hours for them. The best costmer service i have ever seen. Cheap phones for people on a budget. Most reliable pre-paid i have ever seen. Uses Sprint Best network. always change plans to meet peoples budget. it's cool if you have a old plan that you like and they updated it and it doesn't fit you you can keep the old plan and price but once you upgrade to the plan you can't go back to the old plan. vThe bad: And the bad parts i hated about virgin mobile. First they didn't use sim cards so if you want to get a new phone or you lost your phone you have all the info and contacts gone (Not your Phone Number). Their phones sucked i hated that they used the same phone brand over and over again, they need to mix it up alittle like in the virgin mobiles in other countries. their Pre-Paid plans when always changing sometimes for the good and most of the times for the worst (In my case). they charged an arm aSummary: Overall i think Virgin Mobile is a very good Pre-Paid Cell phone plan. It's never let me down in signal and service. A Good starter phone company to get your kids to learn to budget their not only money but minutes and uses.

Good but pricey

Posted on: October 24th, 2007 by John Smith

The good: Ok signal, call record available onlineThe bad: Rates are too high. Can't disable text messaging.Summary: I have Virginombile for a teenager. The signal (SrintPCS) is adequate where it is used. The call record is available online. Customer service seems good. However, the rate of $.18 per minute is now less competitive with other prepaid providers and we will be switching.
