avoid the trouble

Posted on: February 1st, 2012 by Aeriel Garagely IV

I have the monthly no annual contract and it was a good deal for me to get 300 minutes and everything else unlimited until they decided to cap the data plan at 2.5GB. Which is a lot but, I like to listen to Pandora on my phone a lot, watch videos, and look at web pages often and now I will be unable to do so without being charged. Not only is this very frustrating but pray that you never have any problems with billing or ever have to deal with customer service because it was the worst I've ever had to deal with. I had an issue with their online payment and it appeared that I had 13 pending transactions on my bank account. Of course these were all dropped but I at the time was freaking out. I called several times to try and get a clear explanation and some reassurance I wasn't going to get charged and everyone that I spoke with were very unhelpful and none of them acted like they knew what the hell was going on. I even asked to speak to a supervisor or manager in charge several times and I was hung up on at least 7 times. The only reason I stayed with the company was because it is cheap for me and easier than switching. Now that they are not offering unlimited data, I am now price shopping around for other companies.

Just awful...

Posted on: January 8th, 2012 by Dan Hulseapple

Pros: If you're one of those people that never drop your phone, the Intercept and Rumor Touch work decently. Cons: Literally everything else. The customer service blows. They make it impossible(not exaggerating) to speak to an actual person when you call, but on the extremely off chance that you do get a live person they are absolutely no help, I swear you could probably get more from the automated help. Not to mention it will take you 3 hours just to figure out how the hell to put minutes on it. The service itself is bad, plain and simple. In a 10 mile radius, you'd probably have service for about 4 of those miles and if you plan on traveling on a back road? Forget about it. And the phones themselves are unresponsive at times. They try to convince you that it's a good deal but really, unless you plan on staying in the same place for the rest of your life, do not get Virgin Mobile. I switched to Verizon yesterday and it is already a much better investment than in the joke of a phone service: Virgin Mobile.

Awful Customer Service

Posted on: December 17th, 2011 by Austin Brown

I have been sitting here simply trying to add minutes to my phone using a card i had bought at the store for over 30 minutes and have made several attempts to speak to a live person. There is no way to speak to an actual person when calling customer service and the automated services will not recognize my phone number. Upon calling the *729 number, which is supposed to be the simple way to add minutes, the call disconnects at 14 seconds in and this is the case for the past 30 calls I have made. The phone itself works great, I just can't use it because none of the ways of making payments will work properly.

Poor Service, Lousy Phones

Posted on: November 21st, 2011 by Manny Steiner

Okay, so you don't expect the latest technology when you go with a discounter, but you DO expect that the service and equipment works. NOT the case with Virgin Mobile. We have had the Samsung Android phone replaced once, it solved some problems but sending MMS, e-mails and web browsing is totally hit or miss. Service coverage is not all that good which is to be expected and generally fine so long as you live and travel in big metropolitan areas, but if you add it all up, the whole package is lousy. Switching.

Great Prices, Customer Sevice & Signal strength

Posted on: September 10th, 2010 by Steve O'Connor

The good: Price for those who don't use more than 300 min. per month. Reception is great in South Florida. Unlimited Text Data and internet. The bad: Need a better selection of phones. More smartphones.Summary: My Customer Service Experience was Superb! The Virgin Mobile rep Ported my old phone # for me only hours after I got my phone and activated it. He even stayed on the line and 3 wayed the call while I had to get some pertinent info from ATT. My bill is set on an auto pay for the same amount & same day of the month. Virgin charges $25 + sales tax = $26.63 - No FCC and various other taxes that drive up the "real" bill each month. The unlimited Text and internet is a great deal. The 3G connection in the area I live in is as fast as most other phones. Service by Sprint is great in Martin County. I bought the LG Rumor Touch and after only a few months the savings @ $25/mo. have more than paid for the phone already. With no contract I can change phones and upgrade when they offer more choices at will. This is the way to go for those who talk less than 300 min / mo.

Great Value Ok Service

Posted on: July 29th, 2010 by Anonymous

The good: $25 for unlimited data messaging and 300 minutes, phones (good for prepaid), no contract, can sign up at 13, cheap phones for what you get from themThe bad: coverage is just ok, no roaming, no international coverageSummary: I have had virgin mobile for about 6 months now and its great! I had the x-tc and have sine switched to the rumor 2. The phones are good and the plans are amazing. The largest problem is I live on the west coast where coverage can be spotty. It is the same network as Sprint though so don't be fooled coverage is still good. I would recommend Virgin Mobile to anyone who is ok with an average phone and wants to save money!

Best Idea In A While

Posted on: July 25th, 2010 by Bobby Jacobs

The good: New phones, sleek look, the phone plans, no contractsThe bad: Not the best service, but it works as long as you don't live in the mountains. In most of California where most people travel/live, it works; full bars, etc. Los Angeles, San Francisco, Fresno.the major cities, it works.Summary: I've had Virgin Mobile before and recently decided to go back after having been locked in by AT&T for 2 years and then trying to manage with Net10/Tracfone prepaid service. While the Tracfone/Net10 plans work for those who don't talk or text frequently, it's not the best plan for avid users. I tried looking at different carriers that offered low cost plans and it was narrowed down to Cricket Wireless until I remembered Virgin Mobile. I checked out their website and found out that there was a $25 beyond talk plan (unlimited text & data, 300 talk minutes). I checked out the phones and bought the Rumor Touch. Probably one of the best phones I've had in a while. Even though Virgin Mobile is one of the high-end prepaid carriers, it's still a prepaid carrier and most prepaid carriers usually have low-end phones. I was pretty stoked that the 4 premier phones they offered were quality-made. They even offered a Blackberry Curve. One would never guess that these phones were prepaid. I'm digging my new service, my new carrier, & my new phone and haven't had any complaints yet. I recommend switching over, it's worth a try. I'm getting my whole family to switch to Virgin Mobile. It beats the major carriers' prices any day. Unlimited text & data and 300 talk minutes. For $15 more, you get an additional 900 minutes, totaling 1200 minutes for $40. What more could you ask for?

This company is the worst

Posted on: June 5th, 2010 by Tammy Cranker

The good: The plans sound like a good dealThe bad: They steal your money, lie, cheat, scam,Summary: This company is the worst company i have ever delt with. At first it took them a week to port my number to my new rumor touch. After calling them and emailing every day, they finally got my phone on and promised me a free month of service. They said i needed to add sixty to my account to have my phone activated fully and they said it won't be touched till my free month is over with. So i agreed but they had problems with the card not processing and told me to go to a store in my city that has virgin mobile and have them add the money to my account. I went to radio shack and had sixty put on my account..yay..but the idiot gave me the wrong plan. I wanted the 25 dollar unlimited text web and data plan, and she gave me a 18 cents a min plan. I had no idea and was texting away and used up 15 dollars in one day. I checked my virgin mobile account the same night and noticed it and i changed my plan online through their website. But it took another 25 dollars out of my account. Now i racked up 40 bucks in one day! wtf! I emailed them again..asking for my money back and where my free month of service is? They emailed back , they have no idea about free month and mentioned nothing to help me. I was p.o.ed ...I assumed i just got scammed so i accepted the loss and waited for the rest of my service to work i was told that my web wouldn't work till they got me in the system. But i had waited long enough after one day and still no web I called them about the problem, it should only take 2-4 hrs to get my web started what is going on? They were having problems with all rumor touch's not compatible with the system. (don't sell the flipping phone if it won't work duh) They just wanted me to bear with them. ( Not like they have helped me any) They said give till saturday at least..So i wait ..and two hours after i got off the phone with them they shut my phone off! WTF! I havn't had this phone for a whole flipping week yet!Now it is saturday and still no phone. I emailed them telling them they shut my phone off without ever telling me. The emailed back saying that the phone was never shut off. really? then wtf does my phone not work? I made a complaint to the BBB..Let them handle it. I am so sick and tired of this company!Read more: http://www.rateitall.com/rc-5678751.aspx#ixzz0q1ls0iDF

Great savings and a company with a potential for more

Posted on: April 25th, 2010 by Kimberly Gomez

The good: Great savings, texting plans, roll forward minutes, no contract option, pay as you go, low cost phones, downloads. The bad: Limited selection of phones, sometimes patchy reception in certain areas, poor customer service reviewsSummary: Despite any negative reviews I might have found when I was researching for a new carrier, I still decided to go with Virgin Mobile and I've been happily surprised. I opted to go no-contract since it was the reason I left my previous carrier and Virgin's pay-as-you go option fit me prefectly. I cut down my minutes drastically and went with a $20/200 minute plan with roll forward and $10 for 1,000 texting and $30 a month is a huge break over the $110 I was previously paying. While the phone selection is limited, it hardly expensive and has some really great buys and the calling network has been very dependable. I know I've been lucky in these times to have and keep a phone when so many others can't afford it and Virgin Mobile has program dealing with just that. Their "Assurance Wireless" program is being in offered in five states and exclusively to low income, qualifying families and its an amazing deal. Qualifers can get both a phone and 200 minutes, with no fees or contract, for $10 a month with the potential to expand their program at .10 a minute. While the program is new, I can only hope it will expand to more states and people who could also use a plan like this.I might not be low-income, but the savings would totally help me. Times are tough and having a cell phone is a must so click here for Sprint president's email address: http://assurancewireless.webs.com and let him know that everyone could use these savings.

Stealing your money

Posted on: August 29th, 2009 by Don Hayashi

The good: CheapThe bad: Customer service will not refund money they have double charged for.Summary: After a day of starting service I changed plans. When I checked my account online I found that I was charged for both plans. When I finally got through to a rep she told me that it was my fault for changing plans and that the policy was to charge for the full price of both plans when you change. She would not connect me with a supervisor because the they were "busy with other customers". When I tried to cancel the account she connected me to someone's voice mail box.I guess I'll have to try to get the credit card company to refund the charges.
