Tracfone

Posted on: April 11th, 2018 by jmferrence

They cheated me out of my text time which was about 1700 minutes when the phone went dead after less than three months. That was the third phone I had trouble with.It is nearly impossible to get a real person in customer service and when you do get someone be prepared to be on the phone for an hour. Their phones and customer service suck. After twent years I am dumping this company.

Transferring Minutes to New Phone

Posted on: April 3rd, 2018 by Roger 4147098421004391 Hutchinson

My old phone died so I used it as an opportunity to get a new phone. I did not know that it is wise to call TracFone first to verify the minutes remaining on your old phone in order to ensure a smooth transfer. As a consequence, they lost 700 minutes from the old phone. One tech guy that I worked with actually told me how many minutes remained on the old phone before they started disavowing any knowledge of the minutes. On the positive side, I did not lose my airtime. TracFone only keeps records for 30 days (according to the tech guy) so it was not possible to audit my phone usage to verify actual remaining minutes. It's a cheap phone and you get very limited technical support. That's life. I still recommend TracFone if you want a cheap phone - you have to buy lots of minutes to get cost per call down to a reasonable price. But, don't assume the system works - call first before re[lacing a phone to verify airtime and service ending date.

Tracfone customer service stinks.

Posted on: February 9th, 2018 by WORD TO THE WISE

My Tracfone cell phone became deactivated and all the minutes were removed. I called the customer service agent at Tracfone. At first they told me I deactivated the phone. I told them I did not. I almost lost my number. After being on the customer service line for an hour, they admitted it was their fault. It was their computer system that deactivated my phone. All my minutes were also lost. I was without a phone for 3 days, as it took the customer service agents 3 days to reactivate my phone and restore my lost minutes. I had to call 3 times in 3 days to get my phone reactivated and for them to add back my minutes. I was had to speak with the customer service agents for a period of 3 hours total. I asked them if they would give me extra minutes for my aggravation. The customer service department said they would not give me even 1 free minute. I told them I will go online and write a complaint for the bad customer service and for their lack of understanding. They said they could care less. I am seriously considering going to a new cellular phone company as soon as my minutes expire, as Tracfone customer service is the worst I ever experienced.

TracFone

Posted on: June 17th, 2017 by Conniewatts99

Another company Outsourcing their customer service to Broken English speaking countries! Not only are they difficult to understand they have the audacity to have attitude when you request them to repeat what they say so that you can attempt to understand them. I called customer service because I'm in a financial bind.requested a donation of air time so my granddaughter can continue calling her dying Great-grandfather. (He was given 2 to 3 weeks to live) It was an out right NO! Can you say heartless! They had every right to say no, however is the manner in which they did it. I requested to speak with a manager, it was transferred four times to be told a manager was not available. I requested a number and address for a corporate office and was denied that information. So much for customer satisfaction! My granddaughter is 6 years old, she has been calling her great-grandfather twice a day since April. The one time that I cannot find putting minutes on this heartless company that is overpriced in the first place($20 for 60 minutes) won't/didn't consider honoring my request. I m done! Won't be using TracFone ever again. FYI know what you're using TracFone is used under other companies also.

Tracfone customers beware

Posted on: April 13th, 2017 by unhappy

Will not refund or credit. Will not unlock phone. Customer service awful. Very easy to have multiple transactions, because transactions are so slow you think they don't go through. They also have boxes checked liked international calling included that is easy to miss when ordering. When you call to get refund or credit they refuse. Today I decide I had enough, going with another carrier- they wont unlock my phone. I have dealt with bad or shady companies but tracfone by far the worst ever. Customer service totally incompetent, rude, hard to understand and a huge waste of time. Would not recommend to anyone.

Losey service.

Posted on: September 2nd, 2016 by poly1man

Every time I have transferred my balance to a new phone they have cheated me out of the correct text balance and data balances. The technical department lies about how they will help solve the problem and gives you a pin # to call back and then tell you that they can't help you with your balances, they just say whatever to get you off the phone and onto the next call. Their sim cards fail and the phones malfunction after less than a year. Total terrible company to deal with.

Deceptive Sales Practices

Posted on: September 28th, 2015 by Northern-Grl

I had 344 minutes visible on my phone, but they would not work. I called the company and explained that the phone had been in a closet for a few months and asked If i could get my minutes to work. The man said that I could get them all back--I just needed to buy more air time. I asked him three times, "If I buy more airtime, will I get these minutes back?" He said yes and asked me for my credit card number. I bought the airtime and then sent me a new sim card. When I put it in my phone, the minutes disappeared. I called again and the supervisor told me that I had to wait 72 hours and call back and they would verify the minutes and put them back on my phone. When I called back, they said that they never return minutes to a phone and it was against company policy. I explained that the only reason I purchased airtime was because the employee said that if I did, I would get the minutes back. I explained that without the airtime, a six year old tracfone had no value to me. Manager George Hoare said that was too bad. I asked for either the minutes or a refund. He said no. I explained that the employee who told me to purchase airtime knew full well that I could not have those minutes back, and he took my credit card number anyway. I wanted a refund and the last thing I asked was if he was really going to refuse to make this right over about $20 for a loyal customer of six years (we pass the phone down to our younger kids as the older ones upgrade to real phones). He said he was going to refuse. I disputed the charges on my credit card because of deceptive sales practices. I filed a complaint with the BBB. I now spend my spare time sharing my bad experience and financial loss to this company. And finally, I promote Cricket wireless' pay as you go plan. We have five iphones with them for $100/month. Yes, you read that correctly. We LOVE it. We purchased used phones from swappa and Cricket gave us sim cards and the employee set everything up for us while we waited. Cricket is a great budget plan for families. If you don't have a tracfone already, don't get one. If you have one and feel like you have to stay with them because you have minutes or time left on your phone, just let it go. Breathe a sigh of relief, lose the minutes/time and walk away. You will be so much happier (and actually pay LESS! money with another company. It's not a bargain when the service is so bad that they have to people trick people to get $20. Fool me once, as they say.

Terrible Tech Support, Hung up on us from the start

Posted on: September 25th, 2015 by Quadzilla

I called Tacfone customer service for a friend who uses their service, he was having a problem where whenever somebody would call his cell number, they'd get a recording that the voicemail was full. I tried but was unable to access his voicemail as he had lost his pin number. When I tried to change it by calling into his voicemail system, I was connected to Verizon customer service who then referred me to tracfone. The first tracfone representative hung up on me so I called the customer service number 800-867-7183 and spoke to Edna. I spent about 30 minutes on the phone with her where she had me dial *22890 to reset the phone as well as *73, not sure what this last number was supposed to do but it did not fix the problem. Edna also took my address information to look for network outages in my area but there were none. Since Edna could not fix the problem, she transferred me to a second line tech support rep by the name of Michael. Michael had me do the exact same steps as Edna had (including looking for network outages) but he also asked that I remove the battery from the phone and put it back in. I explained to him that I'd done this already but I did it again anyway and it did not solve the problem. The call with Michael lasted another 20 minutes and because he could not solve the problem he transferred me to a third line tech support rep by the name of Darwin at 866-806-1840. Again, Darwin had me perform the same exact tests as the previous two representatives. By that time, I'd have spent well over an hour on the phone with these people and was no closer to having the phone fixed. Each time these techs had me perform these tests, they'd put me on hold and try calling the cell number but not once did the phone ring. I couldn't stay on the phone any longer and so was given a "reference pin number" by Darwin. I gave the reference number, names of all reps I spoke with and all the steps I had taken to my friend so when he called back he wouldn't have to go through the same process. Thing is, the first few representatives he called hung up on him and the last person he spoke with said the only way to fix the phone would be to delete all his voicemail and text messages. He finally got fed up and ended up canceling his TracFone account and switched to AT&T. I've never experienced customer service as bad as TracFone's, it's just terrible. I forgot to mention that I could hardly understand what these reps were saying as they spoke very poor English. Avoid doing business with this company at all costs, even if their rates are cheaper, it's not worth the aggravation!

Customer Service not so good, Price and Service make up for it.

Posted on: August 2nd, 2015 by jongreene

If you can get past their generally bad customer service, Tracfone is reliable and won't cost you a lot per month. Even if you use your cellphone A LOT they have monthly plans that are a lot cheaper than the big carriers. So, you get the reliability of the big carriers without the high monthly charge. You don't have to put up with Tracfone's el cheapo phones. If you have an unlocked CDMA phone (Verizon or Sprint), you can bring it with you. But, it will probably take Tracefone five business days to get the SIM card to you. And, if you have an iPhone, they'll probably screw up and send you a standard/micro SIM instead of the Nano that iPhones use so it'll take at least another five business days to get the correct one to you. Yes, their customer service is THAT bad and they appear to be very low-tech. You can get an unlocked Verizon Galaxy S3 for $150 or an iPhone 5S from $300 on ebay. You have to decide whether you want to pay $45 per month for a Verizon prepaid plan for Verizon's customer service or pay much less with Tracfone and it's lousy customer service. Personally, I prefer Tracfone's prices and since they use Verizon's network, the service itself is just as good. Also, you carryover minutes with Tracfone and get no carryover at all from Verizon. Currently, I have something like 48 hours saved up with Tracfone and my plan won't expire for a year so I pay nothing for a year. Their lousy customer service is just something to endure. Once you get past it, you're fine.
