OK Service - Best Value

Posted on: October 10th, 2008 by Michel Mally

The good: Cheap, good selections of phone (for pre-paid)The bad: Spotty Customer ServiceSummary: I had a phone for 3 years. I started having problems with it. I could receive calls but not dial out. I called Customer Service. They answered the phone quickly and were very nice but the Level 1 reps could not fix the problem. They had me enter code after code and was constantly putting me on hold for "3 minutes please". After 1.5 hours they transfered me to a supervisor. The supervisor could speak and understand English much better. He determined the phone was bad in 2 minutes and said they would send a new one. I got it 2 days later. (Very impressive). When I tried to activate the replacement the service date carried over but not the minutes. I called CS again. Same problem. They worked with me so long my home handset went dead and I had to call back and start over. It took 2.5 hours to get the problem solved by a supervisor who fixed the actual problem in less than a minute.Suggestion to NET10 - Pay more for better support reps.A knowledgable rep can turn a 2-hour phone call into a 5 minute call. You would save more money on your 1-877 number charges than you would pay in higher wages for better first level.

So far,so good.

Posted on: October 6th, 2008 by John Humphries

The good: Low rate, excellent coverage in my area, better in EVERY WAY than AT&T GoPhoneThe bad: none so far.Summary: Bought a cheap phone at Target with 300 free minutes. Had it activated in less than 5 minutes. Decided to upgrade the phone...got a nicer phone also with 300 minutes. Called customer service. Transferred the 280 minutes from the old phone with no problems. Minutes were on my new phone while I was still on the phone with the lady. She spoke with an accent but perfectly good English..better than some people who are American born and live around here.Better than GoPhone...service time as well as minutes roll over...with AT&T it's just minutes. When you add minutes, your service time starts all over again. With AT&T, they charge for a minute whether the other party answers or not. Net 10 does NOT.I don't have unreasonable expectations that Net 10 is going to be like a full featured Sevice such as verizon. IT does what I need it to do flawlessly. If you want all the bells and whistles, sign a 2 year contract with the big guys. Don't complain if you get what you pay for with Net 10.

International calling problems

Posted on: October 2nd, 2008 by Ken Parker

The good: Great when it works - worked well calling within Washington & Idaho. The bad: Customer serviceSummary: The following is the response I got after I provided a detailed description of the problems I encountered attempting international calling:"Thank you for your interest in Net10 Wireless. We are responding to yourrecent inquiry. Net10 Wireless would like to take this opportunity to apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced with our service. Feedback from our customers is very important to us. We assure you that we will research this issue to prevent it from happening in the future. Should you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact one of our customer care representatives at 1-877-836-2368. For your convenience, our representatives are available Monday-Saturday from 8:00 AM to 9:45 PM EST, and on Sunday from 8:00 AM to 6:45 PM EST. To expedite your call, please have your Net10 and serial number available. Thank you for being a Net10 Wireless customer. We appreciate your business. Sincerely, Net10 Wireless"Most international calls required several attempts and chewed up minutes big time. The letter above tells me nicely to swallow the the chewed up time and to forget about help, let alone refunded minutes. I am not likely to buy more minutes when my card runs out. I'll chalk it up to experience - you get what you pay for and often you pay more for less.

Good deal if you don't ever upgrade your phone.

Posted on: September 21st, 2008 by Anonymous

The good: Good coverage, good ratesThe bad: Customer service, upgrading difficult, limited features.Summary: I've used Net10 for over 2 years with few problems. The problems came when I "upgraded" phones. Started with a Nokia 1600 "pocket dialer" and upgraded to a Motorola W375. Took weeks and a new sim card to succesfully use the phone. Bought a cable to connect phone to PC, no joy. Just doesn't happen. Won't work. "Upgraded" to LG600G and am now without phone service. Seems that "porting in" is not as easy as making a phone call.24-48 hours is the current catch phrase that they've taught the customer service people. I'm very dissatisfied with that. 24-48 hours from right now, whenever you call or email, or read this.Give it 24-48 hours of thought before using this service. I'm going to look into Cricket.

Net10 can't help

Posted on: September 13th, 2008 by ellen lord

The good: W375 motorola phone is attractive, easy to navigate and has good features....but read on.The bad: Net10 has the most horrific customer service ever encountered, and no matter how patient you are with them they just hang up if they can't resolve your problem. their comprehension and communication skills of the english launguage unfortunately leaves a lot to be desired.Summary: Both my husband and i can flip open our net 10 motorola W375 cell phones, and when we are connected to the net10 network we can just directly dial an area code and phone # and talk to everyone clearly.....but we cannot call each other, even when my hubby tries to call me and my phone is not in use, it always goes to the message center and my cell phone never rings.....and same for my hubby's cell phone.adding insult to injury is we programmed everything correctly, and net 10 verified our connections, yet to date net10 can't provide the answer....but we sure hope someone can.

NET10 IS THE WORST!

Posted on: August 21st, 2008 by Megan Colantino

The good: NoneThe bad: Everything about this phone serviceSummary: My husband and I use so few minutes on our cell phones I thought it would be good to get prepaid phones. After much research I went with Net10. While many reviewers said the customer service was horrible, I felt that we would not encounter that issue since we only wanted the most simple options.Anyway, we got the phones and the one thing I wanted to do was to port our old phone #s. This became a nightmare. On the 1st day of phone service I was told in order to port our old phone #s, they (net10) would have to send me new phone cards. After waiting for a couple weeks I finally received the new phone cards from tracfone (which is the parent company), and after much time on the line with customer service, where the connection is bad and hard to understand very thick foreign accents, the phones were activated.Well, 2 days later my husband's phone just breaks. It took three phone calls and another few weeks to get the replacement. I once again had to go through the process of porting his old phone # over. Net10 insisted that the phone # I was giving them was never associated with his original net10 phone, but after complaining they told me the port was complete. Well, that never happened. After being told 3X that the port was completed I started to lose my mind. I finally got someone on the phone who said that I needed a new SIM card for the phone in order to get the number ported. I asked, why did 3 other people tell my the port was complete if I needed a new SIM card? The response was, "I dont know." The other thing that really upset with this phone call was that they kept insisting that the phone # that I had been calling my husband with prior to his phone breaking never existed.Okay, so now I have to wait for a new SIM card. Well, I never received it. I was told everytime I called that it would be 2-3 business days. On the 4th call it would be overnighted. And the crazy thing is everytime you call customer service you have to regive all of your personal info (name, address, etc) and if they transfer you to a different department, you have to restate your personal info again. To make a really long review longer, I never received the SIM card. So I switched my phone service, and it doesn't end here.I want to get the phone #s ported back to my new phone service and Net10 wouldn't process the request because my phone is no longer active. The response was that I had to buy at least 300 minutes ($30) to activate the phone. I protested asking to speak with the manager, and then his manager. Well, they finally hung up on me. In the end I activated the phone just to port my phone number. It hurt and infuriated me.So I truly say to anyone looking to purchase a net10 phone, "Don't do it!!!"You really get what you pay for.

Good basic phone service

Posted on: August 20th, 2008 by Robert Miller

The good: 10 cents a minuteGood basic phonesEasy Minutes Plans - one is as low as $15.00 a month for 150 minutes. That's the best deal I could find.Airtime info is on the phone at all times so you don't have to waste minutes looking that info up on your account like some prepaid carriers.Good Phone coveragePurchasing minutes is easy. The bad: WEB (WAP) access is limited to Net10 data services only. You can't go anywhere else on the web.Good deal only if you use less than 300 minutes a monthSummary: I was hesitant in going with Net10 because of all the negatives I have read about their customer service. However, I read a magazine site review that said Net10 spent a lot of effort in 2008 to upgrade an improve customer service and I have found their customer service to be good. The first phone I purchase was a reconditioned phone from their website that came with 600 minutes. The phone however, did not work. It would not make calls. I spent 3 hours on the phone with 4 different service techs interring codes into the phone trying to get it to work. In the end they agreed to send me a replacement phone. They got the replacement phone to me within two business days. The service people were polite and tried their best to help me and they all spoke English well. The only small hiccup was that the replacement phone was a different flip than the one I ordered. I contacted Net10 and they offered to replace the phone with the correct model. However, I decided I liked the phone they sent me better than the first phone and decided to keep it.My Net10 phone actually has better service in my office than my wife's T-Mobile phone.I would only recommend a prepaid service if you don't use over 300 minutes a month or if you absolutely do not want to sign a two year contract. If you use more than 300 minutes a month than you would be better off with a contract plan that has unlimited nights and weekends I went with Net10 so my two teens could reach me if they need me. I don't talk on the phone much so going with Net10 is cheaper than upgrading our T-Mobile plan to a Family plan and signing a new two year contract.I primarily went with Net10 because they have and Easy Minute Monthly plan that has one plan that is as low as 150 minutes a month for $15.00. Once my initial minutes are used up I will start the $15.00 monthly plan which is the lowest deal I could find.

Reliable

Posted on: August 1st, 2008 by John Harker

The good: Service is always availableThe bad: Gets expensive, customer support folks don't speak EnglishSummary: I had a Nokia 1600. It's pretty basic, but it does the job. Net10 is very reliable in Oklahoma City. I did have to call customer service once when an airtime card didn't activate correctly. It did take a while, but I got my minutes and I had zero problems from then on. Just don't buy airtime after 10 PM!

Text messaging

Posted on: July 25th, 2008 by Jillian Avila

The good: There is no prosThe bad: They lied its not 5 cents a text its 50 cents or 30 centsSummary: It states that text messages are 5 cents a text but im being charged 50 cents a text so I called and she explained to me it depends on the phone you have ...Some phones texts are 50 cents and others its 30 cents no where on the site or the box I got the phone in does it say that all it says is text are 5 cents so I am pissed about that I want to be charged 5 cents a text like it says one of the many reasons I bought the phone.
