Google Fi's new phone subscription offers Pixel 4a for $15 per month

Google Fi today launched a new phone subscription program to make it easier for customers to upgrade to a new device.

With Fi's phone subscription, you can get a Google Pixel 4a plus device protection for $15 per month. This comes out to a total of $360 over two years, which Google touts is a savings of $133 compared to buying the phone and device protection plan separately. That $15 monthly rate does not include the price of Google Fi service.

The device protection plan covers your Pixel 4a from cracks, spills, and more. There are deductibles, though, with cracked screen repairs being $49 and phone replacements $99. This device protection is optional, and if you decline it you'll pay just $9 per month for the Pixel 4a ($216 total) but without it you'll still be responsible for the subscription cost if something happens to your phone.

At the end of your two years, the Pixel 4a is yours to keep. Plus, you can upgrade to a new Pixel and continue to earn savings every month on your new phone.

The final thing to note about Google Fi's phone subscription is that you're required to activate your Pixel 4a within 30 days of it being shipped to you. If you cancel your subscription before it's up, you'll be charged the remaining amount owed on your phone at its regular price.

Google's Pixel 4a is an aggressively priced device, but not everyone can afford to plunk down a few hundred dollars all at once. With Fi's phone subscription, anyone can get a solid new smartphone in the Pixel 4a plus device protection, all for a low monthly payment.
