Samsung has been busy building out its affordable Galaxy A series of smartphones lately, and today its announced its lowest-cost 5G phone yet.
The Samsung Galaxy A42 5G is launching in the UK on November 6 at a price of £349 ($456 USD). That's quite a bit less than the Galaxy A51 5G that Samsung sells for £429 ($560 USD).
Inside the Galaxy A42 5G is Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 750G processor that enables 5G connectivity. There's 4/6/8GB of RAM packed inside the Galaxy A42 5G, too, along with 128GB of storage and a microSD slot that'll let you add up to 1TB of additional storage.
Around back is another one of the Galaxy A42 5G's highlight features: its quad camera setup. There's a 48MP main camera plus an 8MP ultra wide cam for group shots. A 5MP depth camera will help you take portrait mode photos with blurry backgrounds, while the 5MP macro camera is focused on close-up shots.
The 6.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED screen has a waterdrop notch for the 20MP selfie camera as well as an in-display fingerprint sensor. There's a 5000mAh battery powering the Galaxy A42 5G plus support for 15W fast charging, too, and Samsung Pay support.
After launching as a feature in flagship smartphones, we're now seeing 5G come to more affordable devices. And while 5G itself is still young and not as widespread as 4G LTE, it's good to see more affordable 5G phones come to market so that folks can buy them now and be ready for 5G when it does arrive in their neck of the woods.
