ASUS ROG Phone 3 official with Snapdragon 865 Plus, up to 16GB RAM

When the Snapdragon 865 Plus was announced earlier this month, ASUS told us that the new chipset would be inside its ROG Phone 3. Now ASUS has spilled the rest of the info on its new gaming phone.

Aside from that flagship Snapdragon 865 Plus processor, the ROG Phone 3 has several other features to help make your mobile gaming sessions better. That includes a 6.59-inch 2340x1080 AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate and 25ms touch latency. There are dual front-facing speakers, too, so all of your game audio is blasting right toward you.

The right side of the ROG Phone 3 includes ASUS's new AirTrigger 3 side sensors. These can act as triggers like you'd find on the top of a controller, letting you tap to mimic a touch on your screen, slide to look around in a game, and even use dual partition buttons on either side of the triggers to simulate L1/L2 and R1/R2 buttons.

Inside the device is up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. ASUS has also equipped its new phone with a massive 6000mAh battery to keep you playing longer between recharges.

To help keep your ROG Phone 3 cool while you're gaming, ASUS has included its GameCool 3 cooling system with a 6x larger heat sink and up to 14% increased thermal efficiency. And if your gaming sessions are particularly intense, there's also a clip-on external cooling fan to get more airflow to hotspots on the phone's case, like near the CPU and 5G chip.

The triple rear camera setup on the ROG Phone 3 includes a 64MP main cam with Sony IMX868 sensor and pixel binning tech that'll combine four pixels into one to get you a higher quality 16MP image. There's a 13MP ultra wide camera with 125-degree field of view, too, plus a 5MP macro camera. A 24MP front-facing camera can help you with your selfie needs.

And of course, the ROG Phone 3 has Aura RGB lighting that can make the ROG logo on the back of the phone light up in a variety of colors.

The ASUS ROG Phone will launch in North America in September 2020. ASUS isn't talking pricing just yet, but the original ROG Phone and the ROG Phone II each cost $899 when they  were released, so we could see the ROG Phone 3 launch at a similar price point.
