ASUS ROG Phone 3 leak offers a clear look at the upcoming gaming phone

The ASUS ROG Phone 3 will be officially revealed on July 22, but as is usually the case with major upcoming phones like this one, ASUS's new device has leaked out before its big event.

New images have leaked that give us a clear look at the front and back of the ASUS ROG Phone 3. The renders shared by Evan Blass show a device that doesn't look all that different from last year's ROG Phone II, complete with top and bottom bezels, a dual rear camera setup, and glowing "Republic of Gamers" branding on the phone's backside.

Of course, while the outer design of the ROG Phone 3 may not be that different from its predecessor, it will get some upgraded internals. ASUS has already confirmed that the ROG Phone 3 will include Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 865 Plus processor, which offers a 10 percent higher CPU clock speed over the non-Plus Snapdragon 865 plus 10 percent faster graphics.

The ROG Phone 3 also recently passed through China's TENAA regulatory agency (via XDA-Developers), and in the process we learned a few more of its spec details. The new gaming phone is expected to come in version with 8GB, 12GB, and even 16GB of RAM plus 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB of built-in storage.

Also expected to be included with the ROG Phone 3 is a 64MP main camera, up from 48MP on the ROG Phone II, plus a 13MP secondary cam. There's said to be a 6.59-inch 2340x1080 AMOLED display, too, and while there's no mention of an in-display fingerprint reader or 120Hz refresh rate, those features were present on the ROG Phone II and so we'd expect them to make the cut into the ROG Phone 3, too.

Another feature likely to make the jump from the ROG Phone II to the ROG Phone 3 is a 6000mAh battery, which should help enable some long gaming sessions.

Unfortunately, one thing the ROG Phone 3 may not have is a 3.5mm headphone jack. In the "Headphone port" section of its TENAA listing, we see "Shared port with charger", suggesting you'll have to plug your headphones into the USB-C charging port.

Based on what we've seen of it so far, are you interested in the ASUS ROG Phone 3?
