One month ago, we told you that Apple was reopening more than 100 retail stores in the US after all of them were closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now Apple is in the process of closing many shops back up again.
Apple confirmed today that it will re-close 14 of its stores in Florida due to COVID-19 spikes. These stores will close up on Friday. Here's the full list of Apple Stores in Florida that will be closing again, courtesy of CNBC:
The Galleria, The Falls, Aventura, Lincoln Road, Dadeland, Brickell City Centre, Wellington Green, Boca Raton, The Gardens Mall, Millenia, Florida Mall, Altamonte, International Plaza, Brandon
"Due to current COVID-19 conditions in some of the communities we serve, we are temporarily closing stores in these areas," Apple explained. "We take this step with an abundance of caution as we closely monitor the situation and we look forward to having our teams and customers back as soon as possible."
These aren't the only Apple Stores closing back up this week. Apple has also said that it's closing 7 stores in Houston, TX, again due to an increase in cases of the coronavirus. As noted by CNBC, here are the stores in Houston that are closing today:
Highland Village, Houston Galleria, Memorial City, Willowbrook Mall, First Colony Mall, Baybrook, The Woodlands
This news comes after Apple said it was re-closing 11 of its stores in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Arizona last week. This week's closures bring the total number of Apple Stores that've been re-closed to 32.
Apple originally closed all of its stores in the US in March due to the coronavirus. Last month it began reopening them while taking steps to protect its staff and customers, including requiring masks for everyone, performing temperature checks, and in some cases limiting stores to curbside or storefront service. However, as some parts of the country are seeing spikes in COVID-19 cases, Apple has decided to close its stores back up to help keep its employees and customers safe.
