OnePlus admits security breach, customer info exposed

T-Mobile isn't the only mobile company that's recently been hit by a data breach.

OnePlus is now alerting customers to a security issue with its online store. OnePlus explains that a malicious party accessed users' order information and, while data like payment information and passwords are safe, some user info was exposed. That includes names, contact numbers, email addresses, and shipping addresses.

The company goes on to say that it "took immediate steps" to stop the breach and reinforce its security. It's now working with authorities to investigate the incident further.

OnePlus is now in the process of alerting customers who were affected by the security breach. If you don't get an email today, then OnePlus says your order information is safe. If you do get an email alerting you to the breach, then you should know that you may receive spam or phishing emails.

It's unclear exactly how many OnePlus customers have been affected by this breach, but there several Reddit users have already chimed in to confirm that they were alerted to the issue by OnePlus. While it's good that sensitive info like payment information and passwords weren't accessed, some users' info was still exposed because of this breach, and there are likely to be people frustrated by the incident. OnePlus does say that it's inspected its site to ensure that there aren't any other security flaws and that it's beefing up protections by partnering with a "world-renowned security platform" next month.
