Google Duplex can now help you buy movie tickets on the web

Google Duplex launched last year with the ability to make restaurant reservations for you, and now it can get movie tickets for you, too.

Google has announced that Duplex is available on the web. Specifically, you can use Duplex on Android phones to buy movie tickets online. You can ask the Google Assistant something like "Hey Google, showtimes for Joker in Portland this weekend" or you can just do a search for movie times using the Google app on Android.

After you select a theater and time, you can buy your tickets using the Assistant. The Google Assistant will open in Chrome to guide you through the process of buying your ticket, and using Google's Duplex tech, it'll be able to navigate the site and input your information, including your payment info that's saved in Chrome.

Google says that more than 70 theaters and ticketing services support buying tickets this way, including Fandango, MovieTickets.com, AMC, and MJR Theaters in the US, as well as ODEON in the UK.

Google's Duplex feature seems pretty cool but so far it's been limited to making restaurant reservations, so it's nice to see it gaining more capabilities. If you've got an Android phone in the US or UK, give this movie ticket buying experience a try and let us know how it works for you!
