Google is adding a stream transfer feature to its Chromecasts, Google Home, and Nest smart speakers and displays. With it, you can start listening to music or watching a video in one room of your house and then easily transfer it to another room.
With stream transfer, you can begin listening to music on one Google Home speaker and then say something like "Hey Google, move the music to the living room speaker" to push your tunies to another room. You can also tap the cast button in the Google Home app to see all of the devices in your house and then choose which device or group you'd like to move your music or podcast to.
This feature also works when you're moving from one speaker or display to a group. So if you've got a speaker group set up in your house, you could transfer music from a single speaker to a group to fill your house with sound.
You can push video from one display to another, too. For example, you could start watching a video on the Nest Hub Max smart display in your kitchen, then tap the cast control on the screen and push it to your TV with a Chromecast installed. Or you can use your voice and say something like "Hey Google, play it on the living room TV."
Stream transfer is compatible with audio apps like YouTube Music, Spotify, Pandora, and more, as well as videos on YouTube. The feature is rolling out today across all Chromecast, Google Home, and Nest smart speakers and displays.
