Google Nest Hub Max smart display is now available

Google's big-screen smart display is here.

The Nest Hub Max is officially launching today at the Google Store as well as retailers like Best Buy, Home Depot, and Target. Pricing in the U.S. is set at $229, while customers in the U.K. can expect to pay £219 and folks in Australia will pay AUS$349.

As its name suggests, the Nest Hub Max is a maxed version of Google's existing Nest Hub smart display. The Nest Hub Max has a larger 10-inch 1280x800 display, a stereo speaker system with two 18mm 10W tweeters and a 75mm 30W woofer, and a 6.5MP wide angle camera.

That camera serves a few different purposes. You can use it for video calls or video messages, and it also functions as a Nest Cam security camera, letting you check in on your home while you're away. Another feature that uses the camera is Face Match, which helps the Nest Hub Max recognize who's standing in front of the device and deliver just your notifications and upcoming events.

Google has also included a mic and camera switch on the back of the Nest Hub Max. Just flip the switch and both the microphones and camera will be inoperable.

The Nest Hub Max also comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 as well as Chromecast built-in, making it easy to beam videos to the smart display. And because it's got Google Assistant, you can use the Nest Hub Max to ask questions, get weather info and sports scores, control other smart home devices, stream music, and more.

Now that it's officially launched, are you thinking about picking up a Nest Hub Max?
