BOLD N1 launches with 6.4-inch AMOLED screen, pop-up selfie camera, $250 price

BLU Products is known for offering unlocked Android phones at aggressive prices. Today the company introduced a new sub-brand that'll be focused on offering flagship-like phones, but that doesn't mean it'll be straying from BLU's focus on price.

The BOLD N1 features a 6.4-inch 2340x1080 AMOLED screen with a 92% screen-to-body ratio. There's no notch on this display, with BOLD opting instead to put the 13MP front-facing camera into a pop-up mechanism like we've seen on some other flagship Android phones lately. Another flagship-style feature included with the BOLD N1 is an in-display fingerprint sensor, helping to give the back of the phone a cleaner look.

Speaking of the back of the BOLD N1, there's a dual camera setup back there that includes a 16MP main camera with Sony IMX499 sensor and f/1.8 aperture as well as a 5MP depth camera to help you capture portrait mode-style images. BOLD is also touting its 96MP Super Zoom feature, which boosts each pixel of your photo up to six times to "[maximize] the clarity and detail" of your image. There's a Night Mode to help you capture low-light shots, too.

Inside the BOLD N1 is a 2.1GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P70 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of built-in storage. A microSD card slot will let you add up to 128GB of additional storage, and dual SIM slots are available as well.

The battery is a 3500mAh pack, and 18W fast charging support will help you refill it more quickly. Also included is 10W wireless charging if you'd prefer to just drop your BOLD N1 on a charging pad instead of plugging in a USB-C cable. BOLD has managed to cram a 3.5mm headphone jack in there, too, which is a feature missing from some flagships nowadays.

The BOLD N1 comes preloaded with Android 9 Pie. It's sold unlocked and is compatible with GSM carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile, Cricket, and Metro by T-Mobile in the U.S., offering support for LTE bands 1/2/3/4/7/8/12/13/17/28.

You can buy the BOLD N1 right now from Amazon or BOLD itself. Pricing is normally set at $249.99, but for a limited time, you can get a $50 discount from BOLD, knocking the price down to $199.99.

The BOLD N1 looks like a solid start for the new BLU's new sub-brand. The in-display fingerprint sensor, no-notch screen, and pop-up selfie cam are all flagship-tier features that've been packed into this aggressively-priced phone, and BOLD has also included a sensor that'll retract the pop-up camera if the phone is dropped to help protect the mechanism. So if you're in the market for an affordable new Android phone, the BOLD N1 could be worth a look.
