iPhone 11 Pro will reportedly include ultra wide angle camera, upgraded Face ID and water resistance

As we near Apple's new iPhone event, which is expected to take place on September 10, more details on the upcoming iPhone 11 have leaked out.

There will be three new iPhones released this year which will be new "Pro" versions of the iPhone XS and XS Max as well as an update to the iPhone XR. According to Bloomberg, the iPhone Pro models will have a third rear camera for taking ultra wide angle photos and videos in addition to the standard and telephoto cams on the iPhone XS and XS Max.

The iPhone Pro models will also have a feature that'll take three images at the same time and use AI to correct the photo if there's an issue, like if someone was cut out of the shot. The devices are expected to have "significantly upgraded" video recording capabilities, too, including the ability to retouch, add effects, alter colors, reframe, and crop video as it's being recorded.

Other new features said to be coming to the new iPhone Pro models is a reverse wireless charging system that'll let you recharge the AirPods wireless charging case by placing them on the back of the new phone. A new Face ID sensor will reportedly have a wider field of view so that you can unlock the phone while it's resting on a table, and Apple is also reportedly including a faster A13 processor, "dramatically enhanced" water resistance, and updated OLED screens that lack 3D Touch functionality as Apple moves toward its long-press Haptic Touch instead.

These iPhone Pro models will allegedly look similar to the iPhone XS and XS Max, but at least some colors will have a matte finish on the back. Apple is said to be adding better shatter-resistance, too.

Meanwhile, the update to the iPhone XR is expected to gain a second rear camera that'll give it optical zoom functionality. A new green color is reportedly coming, too.

These upgrades may not sound like the most exciting new iPhones ever, but there are a lot of small changes that could make them solid phones. The improved resistance to water and shattering will help them stand up to everyday life better, and the ultra wide angle cam will help you fit more things into your photos and give the iPhone a feature that we've seen in a lot of Android phones lately.

Apple is said to be updating its lineup of iPads, too, including new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models with upgraded cameras and faster processors. The entry-level iPad will be upgraded to a 10.2-inch display.

Rounding out Apple's mobile device upgrades is new Apple Watch hardware that'll bring new case finishes and new AirPods that will include water resistance and noise cancellation. These new AirPods are expected to be more expensive than the current version and will reportedly launch in 2020.

Finally, Apple is said to be prepping a cheaper HomePod for launch in 2020 that will have two tweeters rather than the seven found in the existing $300 HomePod.
