It's now been one year since Samsung announced the Galaxy Home and its smart speaker still hasn't been released. Samsung promises that the device is still coming, though.
Samsung says that it's working to refine the Galaxy Home and that it'll share more info on the device soon. "We’re continuing to refine and enhance the Galaxy Home prior to launch, and look forward to sharing more with Galaxy fans soon," Samsung told The Verge.
The Bixby-powered Galaxy Home was slated to launch this past April, but the month came and went without any Samsung smart speaker. We've heard that Samsung may be aiming for a launch in Q3 2019, but there haven't been any official announcements about a Galaxy Home release date.
The Galaxy Home is Samsung's answer to the smart speaker trend. It's wrapped in fabric, held up by three metal legs, and has six speakers with sound by AKG. The speaker also includes Samsung's Bixby voice assistant that you can use to answer questions, control smart home devices, and more.
It's kind of strange that it's now been one year since the Galaxy Home's announcement and the device hasn't even gotten a firm launch date, let alone an actual release. It's not known exactly why the Galaxy Home is taking so long to come to market, but at least we now know that it's still on the way to give consumers another option when shopping for a new smart speaker.
