It was less than one year ago that Xiaomi introduced Poco, its new sub-brand aimed at offering powerful smartphones that are also affordable, and now the company is adding another new brand to its portfolio.
Mi CC is a new smartphone series from Xiaomi that's aimed at youth. "Besides standing for camera+camera, a dual-camera setup on Mi CC," Xiaomi explains, "CC also refers to a variety of meanings including chic, cool, colorful and creative, aiming at the global young generation with its trendy design and camera features."
Xiaomi goes on to explain that Mi CC will have one of the youngest product teams in Xiaomi, with half of the members being art majors. The team's goal is to create trendy devices with a focus on photography and selfies, with an algorithm powered by the Xiaomi x Meitu AI Beauty Lab.
"Here comes the Mi CC, a trendy mobile phone for global young people," Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said. "Being simple, splendid, sincere and straightforward, I believe Mi CC will be a good choice for all young people."
There's no word on when the first Mi CC devices will launch or what they'll be like, so we don't really know what a trendy phone designed by young art majors will look like. The description leaves us intrigued, though, even if we may not be totally "young" ourselves.
