Apple has quietly increased the limit on the size of file you can download over cellular from the App Store, iTunes Store, and more.
The cellular download limit is now 200MB, which means you can download an app, game, video or other file up to 200MB in size over a cellular connection. If you try to download a file that's larger, Apple will prompt you to connect to Wi-Fi in order to download your content.
This 200MB limit is up from the previous limit of 150MB, which had been in place since September 2017. Before that, the largest file Apple would let you download over cellular was 100MB.
This limit is in place to ensure that you don't accidentally download a huge game or app over your cellular connection and unintentionally blow through your entire data allotment for the month. It is nice that Apple is helping you to avoid an issue like that, but as 9to5Mac notes, many carriers now offer unlimited data plans and so it'd be nice if Apple would warn you that you're downloading a large file and then give you the option of completing the download anyway if you want to.
