Motorola's One series began last year with the launches of the Motorola One and One Power, and now the One family is gaining a new member.
The Motorola One Vision is now official, and one of its highlight features is its display. Its 6.3-inch Full HD+ panel features a 21:9 aspect ratio to "maximize your movies and videos". It also ditches the notch found on the Motorola One and One Power and instead opts for a hole-punch in the upper-left corner of the screen. In that hole-punch is a 25MP camera that uses 1.8µm Quad Pixel pixel binning tech in low-light to help you capture better selfies.
On the back of the Motorola One Vision is a dual camera setup with a 48MP main sensor. This camera uses Quadl Pixel pixel binning tech to combine four pixels into one large 1.6µm pixel to get you four times the light sensitivity, resulting in 12MP images with better brightness. The main 48MP camera also supports Night Vision to help out with capturing brighter images in low-light environments, and optical image stabilization will combat blurry photos and videos. A secondary 5MP camera helps you to capture bokeh portrait photos.
Motorola is placing a focus on AI with the One Vision, packing in features like a portrait lighting feature to add lighting effects to your subject's face. The company also touts features like auto smile capture feature and a smart composition tool that'll recognize improvements that can be made to your photo, like cropping and leveling, to help improve its look.
Inside the Motorola One Vision is a 2.2GHz octa-core Exynos 9609 processor paired with 4GB of RAM, 128GB of built-in storage, and a microSD card slot. The phone is powered by a 3500mAh battery, and Motorola's TurboPower fast charging will get you seven hours of power in 15 minutes of charging. Also packed into that shell are dual SIM slots, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
On the software side, the Motorola One Vision comes with the Android One version of Android 9 Pie. Motorola is promising OS updates to Android Q and Android R as well as security updates for three years from May 2019.
The Motorola One Vision is available today in Brazil and will arrive in Mexico next week, followed by releases in select Latin American countries. The device will also make its way throughout Europe starting in mid-May at a promotional launch price of €299 EUR ($335 USD), and it'll launch in Saudi Arabia and Thailand on May 16th. Releases in select countries in Asia, Middle East, and Australia are planned for the coming months.
With its large 21:9 screen, 3500mAh battery, and microSD slot, the Motorola One Vision could be a nice option for folks who love to watch movies on the go. The Android One software and promise of future Android OS updates are enticing, too. The bad news is that it doesn't sound like Motorola is planning to bring the One Vision to the U.S., so those of us stateside will have to ogle it from afar.
