ASUS ZenFone 6 renders leak, show flip camera design

As smartphone makers work to make their screens bigger and their bezels smaller, we've seen some interesting designs for shrinking the bezels around  screen while still including a selfie camera. There have been notches, hole-punches, pop-up cameras, and phones with two displays, and now it looks like ASUS has another design coming soon.

New images from Roland Quandt show the ASUS ZenFone 6 with a display that has slim bezels. In order to achieve these small bezels while still giving users a selfie camera, ASUS has implemented a flip camera mechanism that lets users flip the rear camera housing up so that they're facing toward the user.

This is an interesting design that could help you get some high-quality selfies. The front cameras on most smartphones aren't quite as high-quality as the rear cameras, but this design lets you use the main cameras for your selfies, which could help make the ZenFone 6 more attractive to folks who love snapping photos of themselves.

Meanwhile, another report claims to have some spec information on the ASUS ZenFone 6. It's rumored that the Snapdragon 855 is inside the ZenFone 6 along with a large 5000mAh battery and Quick Charge 4.0 support. That dual rear camera setup is said to include a 48MP Sony IMX586 main sensor and a 13MP super wide angle lens. The flip-over camera housing itself is reportedly made of liquid metal to reduce weight and improve its strength.

ASUS is slated to officially announce the ZenFone 6 tomorrow, May 16th, so it won't be long before we get more info on this flagship and its flip-over camera design.
