Xiaomi Mi 9 shown off in photos with triple rear camera setup

There are lots of new Android flagships debuting this month, including models from Samsung and LG. Now we can add Xiaomi to that list, too.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 will be shown off in China on February 20th and then will be shown again on February 24th. Xiaomi SVP Wang Xiang confirmed the news on Twitter today, giving us a few peeks at the back of the device in the process. We can see what looks to be a vertically-stacked triple rear camera setup with flash on the back of the Mi 9, and there's a USB-C port on the bottom.

Xiaomi founder Lei Jun shared more photos of the Mi 9 on Weibo. Rather than showing the same blue model as Wang Xiang, though, Lei Jun gave us a peek at a holographic purple version of the Xiaomi Mi 9.

You may notice that all of the Mi 9 photos shared by Xiaomi's execs only show the back of the phone. The rumor mill is happy to give us a look at the front, though, as photos that claim to show the front of the Xiaomi Mi 9 have been posted to Weibo. The device has a small notch at the top of its screen, slim side bezels, and a bit of a chin below the display.

The Mi 9 is expected to be Xiaomi's next flagship smartphone, with rumored specs that include a Snapdragon 855 processor, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of built-in storage, and an in-display fingerprint reader. Details on the features of that triple rear camera setup are still up in the air, but with an announcement happening in less than a week, we'll know more soon.
