iOS 12.0.1 update now available, fixes iPhone XS charging and Wi-Fi bugs

Nearly one month after launching iOS 12 to the public, the first point update has been released.

Apple today released iOS 12.0.1 to the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The update can be downloaded over the air by going into Settings > General > Software Update on your iOS device.

According to Apple, the update to iOS 12.0.1 fixes an iPhone XS bug that'd cause the phone to not start charging when connected to a Lightning cable. Also fixed is a bug that'd cause the iPhone XS to rejoin a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network rather than a 5GHz network.

Here's Apple's changelog for the iOS 12.0.1 update:

  • Fixes an issue where some iPhone XS devices did not immediately charge when connected to a Lightning cable
  • Resolves an issue that could cause iPhone XS devices to rejoin a Wi-Fi network at 2.4GHz instead of 5GHz
  • Restores the original position of the ".?123" key on the iPad keyboard
  • Fixes an issue where subtitles may not appear in some video apps
  • Addresses an issue where Bluetooth could become unavailable
