'iPhone Xc' rumored as the name of Apple's 6.1-inch LCD iPhone

Many of the Apple rumors we've gotten lately have focused on the flagship OLED iPhone models, but today things are changing up a bit.

New leaks have come out recently that may shed more light on the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, which is also expected to debut at Apple's September 12th event. A photo on Weibo that purportedly came from inside an internal China Mobile meeting claims to show that Apple's three new phones will be called iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Plus, and iPhone Xc.

While unconfirmed, these names would line up with the naming scheme that Apple has used with previous iPhone models. The "S" has been used for models that come a year after a major revision, like iPhone 5s and iPhone 6s, while "Plus" has been reserved for the iPhone models with larger screens. And then there's the "C", which would refer to the more affordable iPhone model that comes in fun color options, like the iPhone 5c did.

Meanwhile, some photos that allegedly show the 6.1-inch iPhone Xc in three color options have been posted to SlashLeaks. We can see red, white, and blue versions of the device, which has a single rear camera rather than a dual rear camera setup like the iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Plus are expected to have. The photos also show a rounded outer edge and a bottom with a Lightning port and no 3.5mm headphone jack.

Apple is hosting an event on September 12th at which it's expected we'll meet all three of the oft-rumored iPhone models as well as an Apple Watch Series 4 smartwatch. Which upcoming Apple product are you most interested in?
