New iPad Pro (12.9) reportedly shown off in leaked renders

It looks like all of the new stuff that Apple is going to announce at its event later this month is leaking out. First we saw the iPhone XS, then the Apple Watch Series 4, and now the new iPad Pro may have leaked, too.

Renders that claim to show the new iPad Pro 12.9 have leaked. These aren't official images made by Apple, but are renders made by @OnLeaks and MySmartPrice and are based on factory CADs. One thing to keep in mind is that the original report says that the renders "might not be 100% accurate", but they could help give us an idea of what Apple's next iPad Pro may look like.

One big change with this iPad Pro is that it ditches the home button found on previous iPad models, which suggests that it'll adopt the Face ID unlock feature found on the iPhone X. The bezels around the screen are smaller than on previous iPad models, too.

Another big change from current iPad devices is that back of the device is more angular. The exiting iPad models have more gentle curved edges on their backs, but this new iPad design is reminiscent of Apple's iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 designs. The antenna on the back of this iPad has changed, too, adopting the antenna line design seen on devices like the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8.

Other notable details about this iPad Pro (12.9) is the charging port on the bottom of the device, the power/lock button on the top, and the Smart Connector near the bottom of the tablet's backside. There are also four speaker grilles, one on each corner of the iPad's outer edge.

This updated design is a pretty big change from Apple's existing iPad design. At least some of the tweaks would make sense for a new iPad, though. For example, it's rumored that Apple's three new iPhone models will all ditch the home button and adopt Face ID, so it'd be smart for Apple to do the same with its new iPad models to create continuity across its device lineup and slim the iPad's bezels at the same time.

Rumors have said that Apple's new iPad Pro models will be offered in 11-inch and 12.9-inch screen sizes. What do you think of this leaked iPad Pro design?
