Dark Sky is one of the most popular weather apps on Android and iOS, and today it's getting a major overhaul.
The new Dark Sky features a unified timeline that combines the current conditions, next hour rain forecast, next 24 hours forecast, and next week forecast into a single screen. There's also now a graph of the different weather conditions, and at the top of the timeline is a weather map that'll let you see nearby precipitation.
At the bottom of the timeline is a feature called Time Machine. With it, you can view the weather going back decades and see the seasonal average weather for anything in the future beyond next week.
You can also now save locations in Dark Sky. Just tap the search button at the top of the screen to search for new location, which you can drag to reorder if you'd like. Then you can swipe left or right between forecasts to quickly see the weather in different locations. You can save up to 6 locations.
The refreshed Dark Sky has better notifications, too. These include custom notifications that you can set for things like when the temperature falls below a certain threshold, the UV index, humidity, and more.
Finally, the Dark Sky app has been rewritten from scratch to be faster, more stable, and more responsive.
This looks like a great update to one of the best weather apps around. The unified timeline should help you get to the forecast info you care about more quickly, and in general the new Dark Sky looks more modern and attractive.

On Android, the app is free to download and includes a 24-hour forecast, 7-day forecast, current conditions, multiple saved locations, and more. You can upgrade to Dark Sky Premium for $2.99 per year to get down-to-the-minute forecasts, rain notifications, the temperature in your status bar, and widgets.
