New Palm phone with Android 8.1 appears in FCC and Wi-Fi Alliance

Ready for the Palm brand to return? Because it looks like that's going to happen.

A Palm smartphone with the model number PVG100 has appeared in both the FCC and the Wi-Fi Alliance. The FCC lists the PVG100 as a "HSUPA/HSDPA/UMTS Quad Band/GSM Quad Band/LTE 7 Bands mobile phone", while the Wi-Fi Alliance says that this is an Android 8.1 phone with 2.4GHz, but not 5GHz, Wi-Fi support.

TCL bought the Palm brand way back in early 2015, and now it looks like the company is finally doing something with it. It's unclear when this new Palm-branded Android phone might launch, but now that it's passed through the FCC and Wi-Fi Alliance, it's closer arriving on store shelves. Spec details for the device are still largely unknown, but the fact that it lacks 5GHz Wi-Fi could mean that it won't be a super high-end phone.
